Thanks for grabbing the checklist! I’m stoked to see it getting some use. To keep things moving for you, here are two quick things to know:
1. How to use the doc
The link you receive leads to a Google Sheets template. To make it your own, just open it and go to File > Make a Copy. This saves a private version to your own Drive so you can edit, tweak, and reuse it for every shoot. (You don't need to request "edit access"—making a copy is the secret sauce!).
2. Something new is coming
We’re currently building a mobile app designed to handle shot lists and gear tracking right from your iPhone. If you want to take it for a test drive, you can do so here. As a thank you, I’ll shoot you a coupon for an upgrade once we hit the App Store.
Cheers.
Write, Shoot, Edit, and Have Fun!
1. Download it.
Enter you email address below and you will receive a link to download the template. Then save a copy to your own google drive or download to your computer to edit. After you open the file, click File > Make a Copy
2. Fill it.
1st list all of your gear, 2nd check off the items which are "Relevant" to your shoot, then click the filter icon on that column and click "FALSE" to hide the unchecked items
3. Use it.
On the day of shoot, check off "Packed" next to each item once you've packed only the relevant items.
Double-check your list before you head out!
Why use a gear checklist?
Gear checklist can be super useful regardless if you have a lot of gear or the gear you have is limited. You probably do not need to bring it all with you, all the time, to every shoot. Making a checklist of all of the important stuff and all the other random stuff like extension cords, filters, battery chargers, etc. will help you make sure you have everything you need readily available on the set.
What makes this gear checklist template special?
You thought the shot list template was great? Then you need to check this great gear checklist template out! Just making a list is a great start. And this list allows you to create a reusable, custom list of your gear. Using the “relevant” column, you can customize the list for every shoot. You’ll be able to keep your gear list as is or expand it as you grow. Then for every shoot, check off each item that is relevant only for this shoot. This creates a customized checklist and once you’re ready to pack, you’re only checking off the relevant items..
